Deutsche Telekom AG and France Telecom SA's U.K. mobile-phone venture may get a head start in high-speed mobile-phone services as the watchdog revised its design of a 2.6 billion-pound ($4 billion) frequency auction.
Everything Everywhere, which has applied to regulators to run faster services on its existing airwaves, has “an early route” to high-speed mobile Internet with its current holding, regulator Ofcom said yesterday as it announced proposals for an upcoming spectrum auction.
British carriers are seeking access to more frequencies to offer faster services and cope with surging data demand as users watch films and surf the web 3D Design on smartphones including Apple Inc.'s iPhone and handsets using Google Inc.'s Android system. Rolling out faster services early may help Everything Everywhere to stem a decline in customers and steal a march on rivals Vodafone Group Plc and Telefonica SA.

A government initiative to attract more global start-up businesses to Tech City in east London could create new IT jobs in the capital.

According to the Telegraph, it is hoped the project will encourage the permanent relocation of dynamic start-up firms to the Tech City cluster, which lies between the Olympic Park in Stratford and the City.
The prime minister has said the Olympics and Paralympics will "put the eyes of the world on Britain as we host not just an unparalleled sporting spectacle, but also a chance for companies from across the globe to interact and do business here".

This time last year, the future of dedicated portables seemed in jeopardy as smartphone gaming gained mindshare. Some even went so far as to declare upcoming consoles like 3DS and PS Vita would be dead on arrival.
Most would have agreed with those doomsayers by the time summer rolled around, as 3DS sales slumped, system-selling games for Nintendo's new hardware were nowhere to be found, and the DS' well of exciting titles began to dry up.
The past few months are a different story, however, as must-have titles like Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Design Land, paired with a deep price cut, have reversed the 3DS's fortunes (Monster Hunter 3G's release in Japan didn't hurt either).
Iterative firmware updates, recent fantastic eShop releases (Freakyforms, Swapnote), free NES and Game Boy Advance Virtual Console titles for early adopters, and quality mid-tier games (Nano Assault, Cave Story 3D) also helped turned the tide for 3DS.
The PSP, though much quieter this year as many listened for news on PS Vita, enjoyed its share of compelling releases, too, like Corpse Party, Patapon 3, Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.
Thus, while I won't quite predict that handhelds have a long life ahead of them, I will say that as long as developers put out great games for them, we'll keep carrying them with us when we go out, along with our smartphones.
So cross your fingers that companies will continue to produce portable titles in 2012 that are just as fun as our top 5 handheld exclusives of 2011:
5. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (Capcom, Nintendo DS)

Akken, the leading business software company for staffing and recruiting firms today announced the release of its latest version of the Akken Staffing(TM) platform, a powerful, yet affordable and easy-to-use cloud-based business software platform. The new platform enhancements strengthen Akken's position as the all-in-one "fill to bill" system provider for staffing and recruiting firms. The back office personnel at staffing companies no longer have to re-key in 'pay and bill rates.' The Akken Staffing platform helps to eliminate errors, save countless hours each week and boost staffing and recruiting companies' bottom line, connecting assignment information with online timesheets, payroll and billing.
Akken's latest release incorporates feedback from its users. "We continually solicit suggestions from our customers, prioritize them, and build them as quickly as possible," says David Priddle, Director of the Customer4Life(TM) Group at Akken. "We want to ensure that our customers' voices are heard and that they are a part of our development team."
This new release encompasses a series of software enhancements made throughout this year. Specifically, the link between the back office and front office at the assignment level is the backbone of the staffing and recruiting company business process. Akken Staffing also now includes the capability to merge records, thereby retaining all information stored in multiple places. In addition, the software now searches all notes made to candidate profiles and provides links to payroll providers.
"We are very pleased with this latest batch of enhancements," said Valerie Kinnard from Career Connections, a full-service staffing agency in Athens, OH. "The Akken Staffing platform provides many benefits to our organization and helps us to be more productive while reducing costs."

York, PA - The two white figures awkwardly bumped their way down the sidewalk on a rolling cart, one with a backpack and one with a basket of fruit. The white plaster figures were pushed by a group of Central York High School students who installed the art piece in Central Market, the culmination of a months-long project that highlighted the link between community and education.
Students from media literacy, sculpture and graphic 3D Design classes worked together on the project, called "Synergy." On Wednesday they delivered the final pieces to the York Revolution Stadium, Olivia's House, children's grief and loss center, and DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre.

“The purpose of a small business website is to enhance brand reputation and increase both traffic and sales,” says Peter Crisafi, Vice President of dzine it, Inc., a leading New York Web design and website development firm with clients from around the world. “Unfortunately, many websites are constructed poorly and cut corners, resulting in a loss of traffic and a poor user experience.”
According to Crisafi, there are five mistakes that small businesses must avoid if they want their website to be successful and continue to grow.
1. Slow load times. On the web, speed is everything and the speed by which a website’s pages load is incredibly important.
“Just a matter of seconds can make a difference,” says Crisafi. “Slow loading pages drive people away more than anything else.”
2. Information overload. Giving visitors too much information right from the start, is like walking into a room and being introduced to everyone at once.
“The key is to use your home page or landing pages to seduce visitors to dig deeper into your website,” Crisafi says. “Giving too many choices can spell the end of a website.”
3. Poor website design. Most Internet users have gotten into the habit of browsing through websites, expecting to find menus and other forms of navigation in the usual places.
“You can still offer users an innovative website design, while conforming to design norms,” Crisafi says. “Placing your website menus in unexpected places will annoy your visitors and ruin your business.”
4) Failure to communicate. Crisafi says that it is imperative that business websites provide clear contact information on every page of the site.
“If a customer wants to send an email or talk to someone by phone, you need to make it easy for them,” Crisafi says. “Protecting yourself against spam should never come at the expense of customer service.”
5) Failure to optimize. There is a lot more to good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) than simply finding a few keywords to place within your copy.
“Good research and website analysis ongoing,” Crisafi says. “This is crucial to ensure that your website does not fall behind through outdated copy and keywords that are no longer relevant.”
Established in 2003, dzine it, inc. is a leader in Custom web development, programming and design solutions for small and large business, agencies. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is my one of my favorite games released in 2011. Here's why I hate it.
. . . oh, man! Usually it's not until some point buried deep within the labyrinth of one of these articles that I admit I'm being a jerk on purpose and just trying to get a rise out of people. Here's me, in paragraph number two, admitting that I don't really hate the game. I'm just having some fun! There. So anyone commenting under the impression that I am a jerk on accident clearly didn't read beyond the first paragraph. And anyone commenting that they love the game as much as I do didn't read beyond the first sentence.
If you're still with me: hi! I played The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword all week, and had me a good old time doing so. Zelda games are a bit of a weird one for me, because I can't stop bleating out obsessive groans about the user interface for darn near the first third of the experience. Then, at some point, there I am, shutting up and enjoying myself—mostly enjoying the sparkling, intelligent parts of the level design.
